Kinksters, 2023

Italian fetish wear company Sirainer invited me to create a series of images to express my vision of Kink from a female-presenting perspective.

Rather than focus on just the activity of kink and fetish, I chose the portraiture of my queer friends and their kinks in their environment. I deliberately left the comfort of my studio and photographed the sitters in their space and a friend's dungeon. Each setting was composed for the camera after discussing their kinks and how to express them in a photograph. I used a spotlight to emphasize the staged aspect of each picture and create darkness around the subjects. I also asked everyone to make eye contact with the camera and be present.

The series is about being comfortable and proud of your fetish and presenting it with an open mindset.

The practice of S&M requires trust and feeling safe. I am grateful to my friends and sitters for letting me co-create these images with them. I hope to inspire others with these photographs, to explore their hidden desires.

Kinksters was premieres in Milan in May 2023 as part of the SIRAINER_XXW exhibition.
